New SmartMusic Home Page

New SmartMusic Home Page

Today new SmartMusic was updated with a new Home page and several other improvements, all designed to make your experience more efficient and intuitive.

Redesigned Home Page

First and foremost we’ve redesigned both the teacher and performer Home pages. We based these changes on your feedback – including hands-on testing with teachers and students who use SmartMusic. Our goal was to make things more intuitive for everyone.

Teacher Home pages are now sorted by class:

Class-specific details on Students, Assignments, or Practice Analysis is just one click away. Assignment notifications alert teachers about work that has been submitted and needs to be graded.

Student Home pages now show the assignments students need to complete and what is due first:

Students also get an overview of their graded assignments and retain quick access to the repertoire library and class method books.

Help for Student-Teachers

Now you can be a teacher and a student within the same organization. While teachers cannot be students in their own classes, future music educators can now join their professor’s class and simultaneously build classes for their students or peers. Simply toggle between the “teach” and “learn” options in the navigation bar to efficiently perform tasks in either a teaching or learning capacity.

Help for Private Instructors and Other Musicians

Private teachers, students, and other practicing musicians can now use SmartMusic without being affiliated with a platform/school. Of course, private users can still be invited to platforms at any time.

Along with private teacher accounts, we’ve added the ability to create private classes, so that teachers at a school can also build separate, student-funded classes for their private students

New Account Site and Updated App Picker

Our new account site provides an improved experience for updating your personal information and viewing your subscription options and purchase history.

App picker

SmartMusic users know that they can get to SmartMusic’s many included apps, like Sight Reading Builder, Compose, and Find Music, by clicking on the icon in the upper right-hand corner, as seen above. We call it the app picker.

To accommodate SmartMusic’s new capabilities and provide clarity for different functions across SmartMusic, we’ve updated the app picker to provide a customized experience dependent upon your needs.

Simplifying Subscription Purchases and Account Setup

We’ve made it easier for everyone to get started.

Individual Teacher and Performer SmartMusic subscriptions can now be purchased online via credit card. What’s more, teachers, students, and parents can instantly create their own individual SmartMusic accounts simply by visiting smartmusic.com and clicking the “Try for free” button, or by visiting the sign-up page.

Additional Resources

While it’s not part of the new home page, we have also added SmartMusic Academy, a free, online platform designed to help teachers get the most out of SmartMusic. Included are short videos designed to get you up and running quickly in new SmartMusic, more in-depth tips for seasoned users, and music education resources that go far beyond the use of SmartMusic.
