Once a month we publish a repertoire update, highlighting recent additions to the SmartMusic repertoire library. While we already published an October update, we’ve since added a bunch of new music that we’re excited to share with you ASAP.
To make that happen, we’ve created this second post, which we’re calling “version 2.0.”
Ensemble Titles and Solos
In October we added 33 ensemble titles, for choir, concert band, jazz ensemble, small ensemble, and string orchestra.
For solos, we’ve added the excellent vocal collection The Young Singer, Book One, three trumpet/bugle titles, and the tuba favorite Sonata #5 by Johann Ernst Galliard.
New Methods
This month we’ve added three new methods. The first is Suzuki Bass School, Vol. 2 Revised Edition, which likely needs no introduction. In case you’re less familiar with the other two, details follow.
The Listen-Sing Method, Volume 1
The Listen-Sing Method is a brand-new method and sight-singing collection designed to develop aural skills and sight singing. Created by Texas State University Regents’ Teacher Cynthia I. Gonzales, it can benefit both instrumentalists and vocalists alike. Included are exercises to help all students match pitch, exercise musical memory, audiate, and sight read more effectively.
Beyond the Chorale
Beyond the Chorale is a collection of miniature concert pieces written specifically to transform the warm-up portion of any band rehearsal. A collaboration between Dennis W. Fischer, associate director of wind studies at the University of North Texas, and composer David R. Gillingham, this music forms a new bridge between the daily regimented warm-up and the music that makes up your curriculum.
